Our Grade 3 Students had the pleasure of meeting Hannelore (Hanna) Klimek, an amazing person who generously gives up her time to crochet for the Milk Bag Project. She showed our students these beautiful mats that are made entirely of milk bags. To date, Hanna has made 245 mats! It takes Hanna approximately one week to crochet a mat, which is about 25 hours of her time. She also needs 220 milk bags to make 1 mat.
The milk bag mats have been shipped off to needy people in countries such as Haiti, and Malawi, in Africa. The mats are made so that people have a dry mat to sleep on. The mats also help keep insects away, and are of course, much better than sleeping on a dirt floor.
Our Grade 3 students are committed to helping collect milk bags. We would appreciate your milk bags to help support this project! Please save them and send them to school with your child for our Grade 3 Faith in Action project.
