Dear Parents and Guardians:
Earlier this summer, we shared with you the Ministry of Education’s newly released COVID-19: Health, safety and operational guidance for schools (2021-2022). From this guidance and additional information that has been provided to us since, the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board has developed its own reopening plan that provides a comprehensive outline of how the provincial measures for reopening will be implemented locally within our Catholic school system.
This plan, called Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together: A Parent Guide for the Reopening of HWCDSB Schools 2021-2022
, reflects our commitment to rebuild from the pandemic and to renew the many relationships, programs and activities that are the strength and substance of our system. Our hope for 2021-2022 is to keep our schools open for the full school year, under conditions that are as normal as possible and with enhanced health and safety practices in place to support expanded programming. All of the measures contained within the plan place priority on the health and safety of students and staff and focus on keeping schools open.
The Parent Guide for the 2021-2022 school reopening is attached for your information. The document is also posted on the HWCDSB website at https://parents.hwcdsb.ca/covid19
. We invite you to read the booklet carefully and refer to it regularly for pertinent information on in-person and adapted learning models, enhanced health and safety protocols, co-curricular activities, COVID-19 case management procedures, and mental health resources and supports.
Please be assured of our continued prayers and accept our very best wishes for a happy and safe new school year.
